Scrubbing Process

The Scrubbing Process

After slowing the velocity of the process air, our fume scrubbers employ a series of stages to thoroughly filter impurities out of the contaminated air stream:

  • Stage 1. Fumes are passed through a water spray, which removes larger particulate matter while also saturating the remaining air.
  • Stage 2. Next, a non-clogging, polypropylene mass packing impinges the fumes, absorbing the contaminants which are carried away by wash water.
  • Stage 3. Any remaining entrained water is eliminated through a series of PVC eliminator blades that provide four 30 degree changes in direction.

Stage 4. (OPTIONAL) Some fumes, such as HCL, can form an aerosol or "acid fog" inside the scrubber vessel.  A High efficiency composite mesh pad mist eliminator is installed on the outlet of the Fume Scrubber to eliminate this problem.
